On 14 January 2012, Spink China will auction two great rarities from the coinage struck at the Hong Kong mint. One of the coin is a revised design dated 1867 for the Hong Kong Dollar, then in circulation, anticipating the introduction of the proposed heavier Tael coins in China. In the event the Imperial Chinese Government decide to not proceed with the reform and both coins never went into use.
